On the Picket Line
Unionism is Alive and Well in MSP

During times of adversity a persons true colors will shine true. The situation that the AMFA Northwest Airlines Membership has been faced with is one of these situations that will test a person’s resolve. The Aircraft Mechanics and Related class and craft at NWA has demonstrated that they are unwilling to bow to corporate greed and tyranny by standing up for what is just and are willing to take NWA to the street in a fight against tyranny.
Throughout the strike, I have talked to members across the country and have heard of people showing support of the striking AMFA members in many ways; however one person really stands out and has truly shown her colors by taking to the streets and joining the fight against NWA.
Peggy Lubinski has shown that she not only recognizes this is an assault on all American workers, but has also acknowledged that there is an issue of safety that the executives at NWA have seemed to forgotten about.
I would like to thank Peggy for what she has done by breaking ranks with her Union and standing on principle in a display of true Unionism. I would also like to thank the AMFA NWA membership for continuing to stand strong.

AMFA Members in HNL Standing Strong!
The Mechanics and Related craft and class at Northwest Airlines continues their strike against the corporate greed mongers who head NWA. I have talked with members throughout the United States as well as visited some on the picket lines and have been told that the outpouring of support has been overwhelming from both airline employees and the general public alike.
Honolulu Northwest AMT’s witnessed a sign of true Unionism when a Union Carpenter refused to use his NWA ticket today and instead purchased a ticket on another airline to return home from HNL.
I was also told that Flight Attendants and Pilots from all airlines including NWA have been showing support and some Flight Attendants will also be joining them on the picket line tomorrow.
Although both ALPA and the PFAA have not officially come out in support of the Mechanics and Related at NWA, it is encouraging to see that the rank and file members are truly Union Brothers and Sisters.
